On the morning of June 30, Ghana delegation, headed by Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the chairman of the National Democratic Congress of the Republic of Ghana, visited and signed relevant cooperative agreements with Hunan University.

In recent years, Hunan University has exchanged fairly effective communication and signed a series of agreements and memos on educational cooperation with four institutes of high learning in Ghana (including University of Ghana) and Fransgeor Education &Consulting Co., Ltd., etc. Presently, around 20 Ghanaian students are studying in Hunan University for either doctoral or master degrees, and some are learning language or culture, which contribute to the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship, and facilitate the communication and cooperation of the two countries in education and culture.

Hunan University, a time-honored key university in China, can be traced back to the Yuelu Academy over one thousand years ago. It is included in the state's "Project 211" and "985 Project" for priority investment and construction. As a research-oriented comprehensive university with open vision, it boasts fairly complete disciplines and competent teaching faculty. Ghanaian universities have accumulated rich experience in their long-term development in such areas as teaching, research and disciplinary construction, and have nurtured a great many outstanding talents.

H. E. Mrs. Helen Mamle Cofie, Ghana's Ambassador to China, and Dr J.S. Annan, vice minister of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Ghana, accompanied the visit.

During this visit, the Ghanaian delegates will conduct a series of communications with Hunan University over the cooperative education and research, take part in the joint academic exchanges seminars, explore scholarship projects, short-term exchanges, cultural research and joint training, etc., and will discuss over other interesting projects together.
