HNU held an annual concert to greet the New Year on the evening of December 28, 2017. The HNU student chorus, retired staff chorus, and alumni staged 15 performances.

Chinese Communist Youth League Hunan Provincial Committee leader Wang Hongbin, HNU leaders Yu Xiangcheng and Xu Guozheng were present. More than 800 HNU teachers and students watched the concert.

Mr. Tang De was the conductor.
