The Symposium on Deepening China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation, and the Yuelu Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade, was held at the Think-tank Base of Hunan University (HNU) on June 1, 2019. It was hosted by the HNU China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Research Center. Provincial leaders and experts in related fields attended.
The HNU China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Research Center was established on the basis of HNU’s key discipline of international trade and the international trade research center. It specializes in fundamental research, think-tank study, and talent training for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. The Yuelu Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade is specially organized by the center. It has different experts in the areas of politics, industry, education, and research for each session. Experts exchange views towards designated topics, in a bid to inspire viable and high-quality achievements, and to better serve the think tank and decision-making in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.
CPC HNU Committee Secretary Deng Wei remarked that, HNU has special advantages in international trade and cultural soft power. It is competent in providing strong organizational guarantees and all-round support for establishing an industry-education-research integrated platform for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation research. The participants talked about promotion of China-Africa economic and trade, investment and safety, cross-border e-commerce, industrial park, and economic and trade related cooperation, education, and training. The participants included: the person-in-charge of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs of the Hunan Provincial CPPCC Committee; the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hunan Sub-council Development Research Department; and, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Hunan Branch International Banking Department. It also included scholars and experts from HNU, and Changsha University of Science and Technology.
