HNU and the Quanzhou Municipal People’s Government inked a cooperation agreement on co-building an industrial design and machine intelligence innovation institution at the Quanzhou Administrative Center on December 24, 2020. The nameplate of the Quanzhou Innovation Institution of Industrial Design and Machine Intelligence of HNU was unveiled.
CPC Quanzhou Municipal Committee Secretary Kang Tao, Quanzhou Mayor Wang Yongli, Quanzhou Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee Director Chen Canhui, Quanzhou Vice Mayor Xiao Hanhui, HNU President Duan Xianzhong, and HNU Assistant President Li Kenli attended the signing ceremony. Secretary-general of the Quanzhou Municipal People’s Government Liao Guowen presided over the ceremony.

HNU Assistant President Li Kenli and Quanzhou Vice Mayor Xiao Hanhui signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides. According to the agreement, the institution focuses on the innovation demands of Quanzhou’s traditional industries and strategically emerging industries, as well as development plan of featured industries such as hi-end equipment, intelligent manufacturing, smart city, ecological environmental protection, and digital culture. With the improvement of independent innovation as the core, and oriented to market demands, it will integrate innovation elements in political, industrial, educational, research, and financial fields, and innovation resources, in a bid to establish a high-level international public innovation service platform for Quanzhou, as well as Fujian, Guangdong, and Zhejiang provinces, and even China and the world.
The establishment of the institution is an important practice of HNU in boosting industry-university-research institution cooperation and innovation. It will leverage the advantages of both sides to:
--accelerate transformation and incubation of scientific and technological findings;
--fulfill HNU’s social responsibility as a research-oriented university;
--foster a number of hi-tech innovation enterprises, even listed enterprises;
--propel Quanzhou’s pillar industry transformation and upgrading and innovative development;
--improve hi-tech industries and innovation capability in Fujian, even the southeast area of China; and,
--build a highland of innovation and entrepreneurship,a gathering place of talents, andan industrial development base of Quanzhou City.
