Thefinals of the 2021World University Students’ Bridge Design Competition was held on June 18. Two teams of HNU College of Civil Engineering won one special prize, the only one in this competition, and a second prize. Three teachers – Fan Wei, Liu Zhiwen, and Yan Banfu – were awarded with “outstanding institutor” title. HNU was granted with an “outstanding organizer” award.

The competition was co-hosted by the China Highway and Transportation Society and the CCCC Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. It has been held for four sessions since 2017. It aims to guide universities to cultivate students’ consciousness of innovative design, comprehensive design ability, and teamwork spirit, while enhancing students’ operational ability and engineering practice.
The competition was an important part of the 2021 World Transportation Convention. The organizing committee selected 10 finalists from more than 200 entries, after preliminary and final reviews of the assessment committee.
