The 17th China University Taekwondo Championships was held in Zhangjiajie recently. HNU's taekwondo team participated and won three gold and one bronze medals, with the total scores ranking first among the men's teams of Group A.
The China University Taekwondo Championships was hosted by the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and the Zhangjiajie Municipal People's Government, undertaken by the Zhangjiajie Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau, and organized by FUSC's taekwondo division. More than 1,500 athletes from 185 colleges and universities across China competed in the championships, including Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Nankai University, and China University of Geosciences. The scale of participating universities and the number of athletes were at record levels.
HNU taekwondo team was led by Tian Zuguo, director of the Physical Education Institute, with Fan Xiaojun as the head coach and Yin Li and Guo Chun as assistant coaches. The 15 athletes competed with others tenaciously, and fully demonstrated HNU's sports spirit, which is to "forge the soul and shape the body, enjoy exercises and keep strengthening".
