The 2015 International Symposium on Architecture History Study and Cultural Heritage Conservation (ISAHSCHC) was inaugurated in Yifu Building Lecture Hall at Hunan University (HNU) on the morning of Oct. 17.
Distinguished scholars from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as 10 foreign countries including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and South Korea were present at invitation. HNU Assistant President Yu Dejie and Dean of HNU School of Architecture Wei Chunyu attended the opening ceremony and made speeches. Prof. Liu Su presided over the ceremony.

The 2-day symposium will have 45 themed academic reports and three sub-forums. The sub-forums will focus on “new theories and methods for architecture history study”, “study on architecture history teaching”, “theories and methods for tangible cultural heritage (ancient town and villages, ancient architectures, ancient sites, etc.) protection”.
Prominent experts and scholars from domestic and overseas universities were invited to give lectures, including University of Cambridge, Politecnico di Milano, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Chiba Univerisyt, Kyoto University, Vienna University of Technology, Sungkyunkwan University, EAN: Ecole d'architecture de Nancy, Czech Technical University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shenyang Jianzhu University, Central South University, and Hunan University.
This symposium was co-sponsored by the Architecture History Specialized Committee of the Chinese Society for the History of Science and Technology, the Sub-Society of Architecture History of the Architecture Society of China, and the Needham Research Institute of University of Cambridge, and organized by HNU School of Architecture.
