


The 10th International Symposium on Environment-behavior Studies was convened in Hunan University (HNU) on Oct. 20. It was co-hosted by HNU and the Environment-Behavior Research Association (EBRA), and organized by College of Architecture of the university.
Over 280 scholars and students were invited to the symposium from 10 countries and regions, namely US., England, Italy, Australia, Russia, Japan, Bengal, as well as Mainland of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Five world famous experts on environment behavior studies gave keynote speeches at the symposium. They are Dr. Harry Heft, professor of Department of Psychology of Denison University and associate editor of Journals of Environmental Psychology, Ms. Ombretta Rómice, former chairman of the International Association for People-Environment Studies (IAPS) and senior lecturer of University of Strathclyde, Prof. Aldo Castellano from Politecnico di Milano, Doc. Takayoshi Suzuki from Osaka University, and Prof. Wu Mingxiu from Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
Focusing on the theme “history and reality: environment-behavior studies in the perspective of multidimensional transformation”, academic discussions and communications were carried out on 13 main topics at the symposium, including “theories and methodology of environment-behavior studies”, “education and practice of environment-behavior studies”, “environment behavior in public buildings and space”, “spatial cognition and environment behavior”, “POE studies and practice”, and “regional, ecological and sustainable life style”.
