1999: Studied at National Taiwan University as a visiting scholar in economics;

March 2002: Finished his post-doctor research in applied economics (finance) at Xiamen University;

2006: Distinguished visiting professor in finance at University of Miami;

Sept. 1985 - July 1996: Teaching assistant, lecturer and deputy director of Department of Political Education in Hunan Institute of Science and Technology;

Jan. 1998 – April 2000: Associate professor and director of Department of International Economics in Hunan College of Finance and Economics (today’s north campus of Hunan University);

Research achievements:

Yang has been devoted in education and research in international financial management and credit management. He has undertaken one major project and two key projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation, and two projects supported by the Doctoral Program Foundation of the Ministry of Education. He published seven monographs and 5 textbooks as chief editor, and more than 200 academic papers on SSCI, SCI and CSSCI journals such as Journal of Economic Policy Reform, Journal of Grey System, Economic Research Journal, and Journal of Financial Research.

Yang has won over 20 awards for his teaching and scientific research, including national award for Outstanding Teachers, Excellent Young Teacher Award raised by the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation, Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award, Outstanding Young College Teacher Award of the Ministry of Education, first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Hunan Province, first prize of the Outstanding Achievements supported by the Social Science Foundation of Hunan Province, first prize of the Outstanding Social Science Achievement Award of Hubei Province, and first prize of the Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award in Institution of Higher Learning of Hunan Province. He was selected a candidate for the New Century Talent Program of China in 2006, and won the 5th National Award for Outstanding Teachers. In 2011, he was engaged as a distinguished professor for the Lotus Scholar Program of Hunan Province, and in 2014 a candidate of the “Ten Thousand Talents” Program for Outstanding Teacher in China.
