Recently, Nepal suffered serious impact from the 8.1-magnitude earthquake, and so did China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. While praying for their compatriots in disaster areas, the Tibetan students studying in Hunan University (HNU) took actions to support and give assistance to their hometown.
From May 9th to 10th, a fund-raising activity for Tibetan disaster area was held in HNU, initiated by Kelsang Phurtin, a Tibetan student in HNU Law School, and supported by HNU Student Affairs Department and Law School.

The activity has raised 14553 yuan from Tianma and Dezhi dormitory area and 1,384 yuan from the Tencent Wechat charity platform for Chinese CARETIBET Association (CCTA), totaling 15,937 yuan. According to the CCTA statistic, over 1000 HNU students made donations, with the amount top among Chinese universities. All funds have been passed on to the disaster area for its disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction. In this way, HNU students made their own contribution to the disaster areas.
