This contest, undertaken by Hunan University, has been held annually for three consecutive years. It has attracted students from various universities, including famous ones under 985 Project like Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, Southeast University and Hunan University, as well as those with innovative education concepts in coastal areas such as Shenzhen University. Primary and secondary school students from all over the country will take part in the primary and middle school group of the contest.

Many well-known roboticists expect highly for this contest. Professor Sun Zengqi from Tsinghua University, Professor Huang Xinhan from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Lv Tiansheng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Professor Zhang Wenjin from Southeast University, as initiators of this contest, attend the contest each year and provide guidance to the contestants.
