


4 entries from School of Design of HNU won the Lotus Prize at the summit forum & the awarding ceremony of the 4th “Lotus Prize” International Design and Innovation Competition held in Changsha in the afternoon of October 10th. The competition was hosted by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government and undertaken by the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Department. Liu Keli, Secretary of the CPC HNU Committee, attended the award ceremony.


HNU postgraduates from School of Design Yang Jun and his partners won the “Best Commercial Potential” for their fashionable and wear-resisting “TYRE-D” shoes made of junk tyres. Li Shiliang and Han Yi’s “Harmony Mirror (He Jing)”, a set of dresser objects which took the excavation objects from Han Dynasty as prototype, was awarded “Best Visual Effect”. Taking the same pronunciation of Mirror and Respect in Chinese, the “Harmony Mirror” implies Chinese philosophy of “Harmony, Modesty and Comity. In addition, Mango V Fund Charity Event Design: Post Ya’an Earthquake Reconstruction Project and “Zhe Xiang You Li” Hunan Xiang Culture Product Design and Research in which HNU students participated won the prize of “Best Social Innovation”.
