At the invitation of Hunan University Library, Dr. Pan Mingshen, prominent historian and literate of the Asia Branch of US Library of Congress, paid a visit to our library on June 20.

Dr. Pan made a detailed introduction of the Library of Congress including purchasing pattern and procedures of Chinese books, service concept, service pattern, posts and responsibilities. and highlighted the OCLC-QuestionPoint (a global platform for consulting and reference). He also raised many advices on the development and resource construction of HNU library.

To meet the various needs of staff and students, HNU library has always been committed to literature construction. In recent years, the “invite in” strategy has been practiced to ask quite a few famous experts and scholars both in China and abroad to come for academic exchanges. The strategy is supported strongly by the staffs for it offered a good platform of learning and communication in improving their professional qualities and keeping up with the leading-edge development in this area.
