Symposium on cultural development and prosperity is held in Yuelu Academy.

On January 29, the first working day after the Spring Festival holiday, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Zhou Qiang conducted an inspection tour to the province’s major cultural institutions directly under Hunan Provincial People's Government. Institutions inspected include Hunan Provincial Museum, Hunan Daily, Rednet, and Yuelu Academy.

Zhou Qiang hailed the cultural activities Yuelu Academy hosted in recent years, in particular the Millennium Forum. He expressed his hope that Yuelu Academy will enhance its management to boost Hunan’s cultural soft power and develop itself into a cultural brand with high domestic and international profile.

During his visit, Zhou urged the Hunan Official Web Portal to step up efforts in its system and mechanism innovation, thus to make the website a new front for advanced socialist culture, a new platform for public cultural services, and a fresh space for people’s cultural life.

Later at the symposium on promoting cultural development and prosperity held in Yuelu Academy, Zhou listened to the reports of concerned departments and institutions. He fully affirmed the province’s remarkable achievements made in cultural reform in the past year. He stressed that the cultural institutions in Hunan must seize opportunities to boost the province’s cultural undertakings and make greater contributions to its scientific development, new-type industrialization, new urbanization, agricultural modernization, informatization, and the building of a well-off, resource-saving and environment-friendly society.
