British Princess Anne and British Ambassador to China Barbara Woodward visited Yuelu Academy on July 7, 2017. HNU Secretary Jiang Changzhong, and Vice President Cao Yijia accompanied them.
Princess Anne participated in a Yuelu Academy student reading salon, and was happy to know that the China’s first envoy Guo Songtao was graduated from Yuelu Academy. In 1876, Guo was appointed as the envoy in UK and France, and set an embassy in London.
The guests visited the HNU China-UK Higher Education Cooperative Program Exhibition. HNU and the Queen Marry University of London (QMUL) has collaborated in a “New Tongdao Design and Social Innovation Project”, which creates jobs for the ethnic group women to protect the intangible cultural heritages. Princess Anne was presented with an ethnic scarf.
QMUL sent six undergraduate and three doctoral students, and one professor to HNU for exchange and research in 2015 and 2016. HNU also sent 22 students to QMUL for graduate study. QMUL Vice President David Sadler, and Dr. Nick Bryan-Kinns discussed with HNU counterpart on cooperation in language training, post-doctoral research, and summer vacation exchange program.
HNU and QMUL reached an agreement on a cooperative undergraduate program, with HNU School of Design, and College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering as pilots.
