HNU reached a strategic cooperation agreement with the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently. The two parties agreed to, oriented to the future development of circular electron positron collider (CEPC) and HNU’s disciplines with competitive advantages, collaborate in the fields of basic physics, electronics, accelerator technology advanced research, supercomputing, and precision machinery. The cooperation aims to provide advanced research and technical foundation for the large-scale scientific facility development in China.
IHEP is a comprehensive research center for high-energy physics study, advanced accelerator physics and technology research and application, and advanced radiation research and applications. It has led the construction of such projects as the Beijing electron-position collider, Beijing synchrotron radiation appliance, China’s spallation neutron source, and Daya Bay neutrino laboratory, which are all in operation.
HNU and IHEP have cooperated in accelerator and detector parts, experimental analysis, and theoretical study, and launched joint educational programs to cultivate talents at the international standards. A provincial-level key high-energy physics laboratory has been established. In the future, a cooperative theoretical physicsinstitute will be founded to push forward related research.
