On December 2, a commendation conference was held in Changsha to mark Hunan’s scientific and technological innovations over the past seven decades. It was a themed activity of Hunan’s science and technology circle to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Representative individuals, teams, and important innovative events in 11 aspects were commended, including Hunan’s seven “calling cards” of innovations; basic research; intelligent manufacturing; strengthening the armed forces through science and technology; strengthening agriculture through science and technology; ecological environmental protection; innovations of county-level cities; scientific popularization and education; and, international communication on innovations.

HNU's State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics was commended as a representative of basic research.
