On March 24, HNU donated 2 robots to assist epidemic prevention and control in the Hunan People’s Hospital. These robots can conduct disinfection via remote operation and smart navigation.
Wu Guiying, vice governor of Hunan Province, observed the robot' work at the hospital, and praised HNU's contribution.

The robots were developed by HNU and Hunan Aimiplus Intelligent Science and Technology Co., Ltd. One robot is responsible for disinfect outdoor space with hypochlorous acid disinfectant via remote control; and, the other can disinfect hospital wards with both disinfectant and ultraviolet light based on smart navigation technology.
These robots will help reduce workload and cross-infection risks for medical workers, and improve epidemic prevention and control efficiency.
The R&D team was led by Prof. Wang Yaonan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). The HNU School of Robotics, HNU State Laboratory of Robotics Engineering, and the Hunan Aimiplus Intelligent Science and Technology Co., Ltd. joined in the program. Meanwhile, the team is developing an intelligent two-arm robot for temperature taking, sampling, and diagnose. Carrying medical diagnosis equipment, it can move autonomously in a wide area, and conduct precise throat swab sampling for patients.
