An agreement signing ceremony for the HNU Chongqing Research Institute was held in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, on August 19, 2020. Tang Liangzhi, deputy secretary of the CPCChongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing mayor, and Duan Xianzhong, HNU president, had a meeting and attended the ceremony. Chongqing leader Duan Chenggang, and HNU Vice President Wang Weibin were present.

Mayor Tang, on behalf of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, welcomed HNU guests. He mentioned that, Chongqing has thoroughly implemented President Xi Jinping’simportant instructions in boosting ongoing epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, and promoting the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, to foster a growth pole for high-quality development. HNU has prominent advantages in talents, scientific research, and featured disciplines. He hoped Chongqing and HNU will take the opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation in sci-tech platform, project, and talent, to attract and foster high-level personnel and innovative enterprises. Chongqing willprovide a strong guarantee for high-standard and high-quality cooperation projects

President Duanappreciated Chongqing government’s support to HNU’s development in the municipality. Chongqing has location advantages and promising development prospects. HNU and Chongqing,with convergence of development vision, both are confident of mutual cooperation. HNU will push forward the projects, based on its education, research, and personnel advantages and fitting Chongqing’s practical demands, to enhance coordination and innovation in the fields of automobile, new energy, and intelligent information, accelerate industrialization of research findings, and contribute to Chongqing’s high-quality development.

As agreed, the institute will focus on Chongqing’s economic and social development as well as HNU’s demand of building a “double first-class” university. It will be a new-type high-end R&D institution with nationwide influence and market competitiveness, which integrates scientific research, technological innovation, public service, talent training, and research finding transformation. The two sides will leverage their sci-tech and talent advantages to focus on such fields as new energy power system and light-weight special engine technology; automobile vibration reduction and buffer technology; new-generation intelligent information technology; and, innovative design of intelligent transportation and traveling experience. Cutting-edge technology and personnel will be introduced to work out complete techniques and equipment platform, foster experienced high-level talents in product development, and promote application of hi-tech research achievements in Chongqing.
