DCC New Media Interaction Arts Exhibition Launches in Shenzhen

The DCC (Design Can Change) New Media Interactive Arts Exhibition, jointly curated by Media Lab of Hunan University (Shenzhen) and OCT-LOFT, kicked off in Shenzhen on December 9, 2013. Dozens of newest interactive art designs from China and abroad were showcased, reflecting international trends in interactive arts and design from different angles.

Four senior design research experts presented at the opening ceremony and delivered keynote speeches respectively, including Professor He Renke, Dean of School of Design of Hunan University, Professor Nick Bryan Kinns, Deputy Dean of School of Science and Engineering of Queen Mary University of London, Associate Professor Benjamin Bacon from the Department of Computing and Media Design of Parsons School of Design and Professor Tahiroglu Koray from University of Helsinki. They introduced the impacts of contemporary design ideas on interactive design and innovative design, and shared their experiences with over 150 professional audiences.
The opening ceremony of DCC Arts Exhibition also marks the first domestic appearance of the Media Lab of Hunan University (Shenzhen). Initiated by School of Design of Hunan University, the lab lays a foundation for the establishment of School of Industrial Design (Shenzhen) as an international cooperative program of Hunan University. Aiming to satisfy the expanding requirement of international teaching and research of the school, the lab will focuses on the cultivation of quality international talents, high-tech R&D, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and matching-making of the design projects of major social services platform. Moreover, the media lab will be the first one in China’s universities that will be set up referring to the modes of MIT Media Lab and Aalto Univ. Media Lab. It will be an academic institute integrating the resources of Hunan University and foreign leading universities, and also a fresh incubator, combining academic research projects and students’ innovative ideas with industrial ecosystem.
The DCC International New Interactive Media Arts Exhibition will last for one month, closing on January 9.
