
Recently, the prize presentation ceremony of the 2012 Blackberry Developer Challenge for University Students was held at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The “Cuisine Navigation Software” based on HTML5 received favorable comments from panel judges and was highly praised by experts from RIM Company. Finally, it won the Grand Prize in the field of automotive applications. The software was developed by six students from College of Information Science and Engineering of Hunan University. They are Zhou Lei, Wang Zhe, Ouyang Yueqi, Li Guorui and He Shaorong majoring in Software Engineering and Zhang Yangxue in Digital Media.
Yang Jun, deputy director-general of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Ministry of Education, Ms. Josiane Simon, commercial counselor of Canadian Embassy in China, and other experts and scholars attended the ceremony.
The contest initiated by RIM in May, 2012 is known as a mobile application development competition to nurture younger generation’s innovation ability in China. To encourage students to apply innovative technology into automobiles and smart phones, a special award was established for automotive applications.
