Deng Wei, male, Han nationality, was born in March, 1966, in Yibin City, Sichuan Province.  He joined the Communist Party of China in April, 1986, and entered the workforce in August, 1989. He earned a master’s degree. He is now member of the CPC Hunan University Committee and its standing committee; Party secretary of the CPC Hunan University Committee; and, professor.

Sept. 1984: Majored in architecture in the Department of Architecture, Tsinghua University (THU);

Aug. 1989: Worked at THU after holding undergraduate degree, served as ideological and political education instructor and secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of the School of Architecture, THU;

Sept. 1991: Studied for a master’s degree in technical economy at the School of Economics and Management, THU;

Mar. 1994: Worked at THU, served as team leader of student affairs of the CPC Architecture School Committee, and its deputy Party secretary;

2002-2003: Visiting scholar of Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies;

Sept. 2003: Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, and director of its press center;

Sept. 2006: Member of standing committee of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, director of its Publicity Department, and, director of its press center;

Jul. 2008: Member of standing committee of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, Party secretary directly under the School of Marxism (served as Party secretary of CPC Marxism School Committee which was established in Dec. 2010);

Dec. 2009: Deputy Party secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, and Party secretary of the CPC Marxism School Committee;

Nov. 2017: Deputy Party secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, Director of its Publicity Department, and Party secretary of the CPC Marxism School Committee;

Jun. 2018: Party secretary of the CPC Hunan University Committee.

Research areas:

Deng has been long devoted to economic argument of urban planning; construction project feasibility study; and, housing problems and policies. He obtained the title of National First Grade Registered Urban Planner. He has published monographs such as Urban Economics, Housing Economics, Architectural Engineering Economics, and Annual Report on Urban Housing Development.
