The results of the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and the Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) were announced recently. A three-member team from Hunan University won ICM Finalist. Professor Yang Xiangyu from the Mathematics & Econometrics College of Hunan University advised the team. It was the first time that HNU won such an honor.

This year 122 HUN teams participated in the contest, with 12 won Meritorious Winner awards and 54 won Honorable Mention awards.

The MCM/ICM is sponsored by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP). The MCM is held annually since 1985. The ICM, an extension of the MCM, was launched in 2000. The MCM/ICM has become international competition for undergraduates.
