The 2018 China International Solar Decathlon kicked off in Dezhou, Shandong Province a few days ago. With global colleges and universities as the participating units, it is hailed as the ‘Olympics’ of Solar Science and Technology Architecture Competition.
There were 19 teams of 34 universities from 8 countries and regions this year. Among them, the Hunan University team-- ‘Descendants of Sun’ was shortlisted in the competition with their work-- ‘R.E.A.L.HOUSE’. It was the only one representative team in Central China. This team consisted of students of such majors as Science, Engineering, Business, Liberal arts, and art.
‘R.E.A.L.HOUSE’ takes on the architectural shape elements in a simple way. With the design concept of ‘Respiration, Ecology, Alive, and Livable’, it successfully presents a green and livable technological housing model.
The team leader Zhangfan said that it took 23 days to finish this work. The application of high-tech elements in it fully showed the idea of ‘environmental protection, energy conservation, and intelligence’.
