The Scientific Chinese “The People of the Year 2018” was announced in Beijing on June 28, 2019. It commended the scientists who have made notable contributions to the professional scientific fields. Tan Weihong, member of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), and HNU vice president, was awarded.
Prof. Tan, member of CAS and the Academy of Science for the Developing World (TWAS), is now HNU vice president, and also director of the State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics. He has been engaged in world-leading research in bioanalytical chemistry, chemicobiology, nano-biotechnology, and biomedical engineering, and independently worked out solutions in aptamer, molecular recognition, nano-biosensing sectors. He developed a new method for aptamer cell screening, to illustrate the basic content of cell recognition, and worked out a high-sensitivity and high temporal-spatial nano-biosensing solution.
The Scientific Chinese annual people selection began in 2002. It aims to set scientific research models, and advocate research spirit. A number of outstanding experts, researchers, and sci-tech oriented entrepreneurs, who have made notable contributions to China’s science and technology development, were commended, including Yuan Longping, Yang Zhenning, Sun Jiadong, Wu Mengchao, Wang Xiaomo, and Yang Liwei.
