The unveiling ceremony of Xiaoxiang Laboratory, Lushan Laboratory, and Dongting Laboratory, three of the four major laboratories of the Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center, was held at theNational Supercomputing Center in Changsha in Hunan University on the afternoon of December 5, 2022. In addition to the Hengshan Laboratory which was unveiled earlier this year, the four important parts of the innovation center have made their public appearances.

Chen Fei, vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, attended, and Zhou Yixiang, deputy secretary general of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, presided over the ceremony. Experts and leaders present included: Wang Yaonan, Bai Lianyang, Shan Yang, and Wu Yiqiang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE); Li Zhijian, director of the Hunan Department of Science and Technology; Lei Shaoye, director of the Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology; Cao Puhua, secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee; Deng Wei, secretary of the CPC HNU Committee; Duan Xianzhong, president of HNU; Li Kenli, vice president of HNU; officials of the Changsha and Yueyang governments; and, representatives from universities, research institutions, enterprises, and national platforms.

Academician Wang Yaonan, director of the Xiaoxiang Laboratory and director of the HNU National Engineering Research Center of RVC, Prof. He Renke, director of the Lushan Laboratory and dean of HNU School of Design, and Academician Shan Yang, director of the Dongting Laboratory and director of the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, delivered speeches successively.

At the unveiling ceremony

The Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center (laboratory), together with Yuelushan Laboratory, Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Furong Laboratory, are four pillar laboratories of Hunan Province. It is an open collaborative innovation platform under the Hunan-CAE cooperation framework. It will be committed to carrying out public innovation service and collaborative research, and accelerating transformation, commercialization, and application of sci-tech findings.

The three new laboratories will respectively focus on the fields of intelligent manufacturing, industrial design, and food engineering and safety and carry out original basic research and key generic technical studies, so as to build an innovative foundation for the high-quality development of Hunan's industry.

Xiaoxiang Laboratory will make technological innovation in advanced intelligent vehicle manufacturing; Lushan Laboratory will highlight industrial design innovation and the innovative application of new materials, new processes, and new technologies; and, Dongting Laboratory will center on basic food science, equipment science, and safety science to launch basic, cutting-edge, and public welfare research.
